Bilingual (Spanish) Case Worker – Home Study & Post Release Services

Pay Scale: Bilingual Spanish Case Worker: $23.87/hr. – $26.01/hr.

Job Summary:
The PRS Case Worker is responsible for providing virtual check-ins, focusing on the child’s safety and well being to unaccompanied immigrant children released from federal custody, and if something is found referring that case to either a higher level of care, or community- based resource.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Make contact and conduct virtual check-ins with UC’s who have been released to Sponsors to assess the safety and well-being of the child and the Sponsors adherence to the Sponsor Care Agreement, then assess and refer if the youth would benefit from a higher level of care.
    Perform on-going virtual check-ins based on ORR contracted timelines at seven (7), fourteen (14), and thirty (30) days after release.
  • During check-ins focus on screening and making appropriate referrals to address child’s needs in the following domains: placement issues, safety issues, education, health, mental health, legal/immigration proceedings, substance abuse, independent living, juvenile/criminal justice and child enrichment activities.
  • Refer for crisis intervention services, as needed, or connect family to services to ensure minor’s safety and well-being in a crisis situation.
    Submit detailed and thorough documentation in accordance with agency and ORR requirements.
  • Utilize social work best practices and provided assessment tools for assessing of a UC’s progress and services provided.
  • Carries a case load varying on program need (Staff-to-case ratios for Post Release Services Case Workers will establish caseloads of 1:25)
    Demonstrate a commitment to developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices.
  • Participate in staff development, in-services, and training related to workplace effectiveness; model professional behaviors and implement improvements to business practices with awareness of their impact in a trauma-informed behavioral healthcare organization.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English. Must clear a language proficiency test for Spanish.
  • 1-year of experience working with youth in a child welfare or social service setting
  • Attained age 21 years or older before first day of employment in position.
  • Experience working with immigrant populations

  • Experience working with immigrant populations
  • Knowledgeable about family preservation, kinship care, and/or general child welfare

Other Requirements:

  • Meet agency driving requirements. Hold a valid drivers’ license and must maintain minimum auto insurance policy for driving a personal vehicle

Working Conditions:
Environment: Work is done in clinical offices, community settings, including Morrison Residential, administration buildings, public locations, and social service sites. Breaks and meals are subject to interruption. Universal Precautions and remaining alert to the environment are critical to address the potential for violent behavior, exposure to disease, biohazards, noise, and contaminants.

Mental demands: Work assigned is diverse and may involve addressing new and unique circumstances. The work might be unpredictable and disrupts planned tasks, requiring flexible time management.

Physical demands: Ability to remain calm and emotionally available serving youth, adults and or families who have experienced trauma. Proficient with office equipment and physical movement. Ability to perform physical interventions if needed in accordance with program and training. Physical dexterity for reaching, stooping, and repetitive wrist and hand motions.
